I also received a email along with multiple txts from this scam but it was a alternate number . (281-215-5730) this was the number I received multiple messages from . It was supposed to be a job. So they are trying that way now.
I was contacted by this phone number to purchase something I had listed on Craigs List. I was sent a fake cashiers check for way over the amount of the purchase and he wanted me to cash it and send the rest to a shipper by Western Union so they could then pick up the table. I called the credit union listed on the check and they confirmed that the check was fake. Don't waist your time with anyone using this number.
Thank goodness I check phone numbers and found this. This person represented himself as a furniture dealer (Hello my name is Daniel Hubbons, i am a furniture dealer and i came across your ad Kitchen table and 4 chairs on craigslist, please get at me with your final price) wanting to buy a table and chairs on Craigslist. Offered to send me a cashiers check similar to the above poster. I decided to check the mobile number he was texting me from and immediately came across this post. Sellers beware!! Your only defense against these thieves is to be smarter than them.
I am the same. He sent me a text message to purchase something I have on Craigslist. He said he is ok with the price, site unseen. Mentioned about sending a cashier's check and that I had to pay his shippers. Several years ago and I think it is still going on, people were receiving actual cashier's checks written on a fraudulent account. You would have to cash the check and send a small fee to someone via western union. So, based on that I figured this was a similar scam. I sent a text back saying No. Only cash and YOU pay your shipper. He stopped texting me.
