This is coming from BC/BS North Carolina, which holds my medical coverage. I've now received two of these calls in the past week; this one this morning I actually answered just to obtain more information. It clearly identifies as BC/BS-NC with "important" information about the need for me to look into colon screening opportunities (I'm not due for another colonoscopy for at least two more years). I actually called BC/BS-NC customer service to report this and they were baffled about the caller ID number. All their outgoing numbers are toll-free numbers and they have nothing in Andover, MA (only Winston-Salem, NC). The best I could do is to be put on a Do Not Call list for those types of calls, and should it happen again, I will block it on my iphone. My worry with that, however, is that it may shift to my work number, which is also on file, so we shall see. In all the time we have been on BC/BS-NC after being acquired by a company based in NC, this is the first I've received any type of robo phone call from them. Most information comes by mail. I don't want or need these new alerts. They're annoying calls, to be sure, but it's not a scam.
Just received two calls on this number re myself and my wife. Left voicemail to call 1-844-957-6767. Both of us are actually insured with BC/BC-NC. However, I called BC/BS-NC from the number on the back of my ID card. They confirmed that THIS IS A SCAM. Others have reported the same number. They are investigating.
Although number is now blocked, I still received a voicemail asking to call 1-844-957-6767. I confirmed once again that BC/BS-NC is NOT attempting to contact me. It's a puzzle how they have my name, number, and insurance provided. But it is a confirmed scam or phishing call.
