The notion saying "yes" will be used against you is popular, but apparently bogus. There are no reports of anybody, anywhere, ever getting hurt in any way by such a scam. For it to work, they would need some kind of account number so they could get money from credit or debit card. Recording the word "yes," alone, would be meaningless unless the victim had Alzheimer's or other dementia so hearing themselves say "yes" would motivate them to get a card and give an account number.
I'm also fed up with callers like this one who, in my case, didn't even let it ring long enough for me to answer.
They say they are foundation for local fire fighters however the number is not local . Said they were going to send a letter first claiming they are not a scam and I just kept saying I don't do anything over the phone . And he hung up after trying to convince I work in a fraud department in my career sorry can't fool me . Sounded good so if this number calls u do not answer
This phone call came right after a phone call from 832-241-0129. I'm not sure if the two are related but it is strange. The 979 number said Hello after I answered and I didn't say anything to see what would happen (I had just gotten the 832 call) and the call disconnected after a few seconds.
