Wanted to install a free GE security system. Said they were giving away 20 in my area. My phone number is on the do not call list. Doesn't matter any more. Number from North Carolina.

Called my unlisted work cell but I did not answer....Followed my best practice...If I don't know the number, I do not answer and don't call back unless a message indicates it is someone I want to speak with.

Automated screening & live call recorded 11 March 2015 ("Nicole, GE Home Security" offering free home security alarm SCAM)
Caller ID: "Name unavailabl[e]"

"Nicole" (computer guided voice recognition) claiming to be calling from "GE Home Security" to screen homeowners for a "free" GE home security system. Once I "qualified" (have to own your own home) I was put through to a live "security specialist".

I could tell immediately that this call was an automated, computer guided, voice recognition call. I was anxious to see if I could "guide" the computer by asking questions, but our connection was not the best and their computer was having trouble recognizing my responses to their questions.

When I was put through to their live "security specialist", he was having trouble hearing me and suddenly disconnected the call before I had a chance to give him false information. Oh well, I'm sure they'll call back since they now know this is the number of a "qualified" home owner, and I'll be ready to waste their time, recording the call to post it here.

Here is a transcript of this "lower your credit card interest rate" SCAM telemarketing call:

[me:] "Hello?"
[automated voice:] "This is Nicole, how are you today?"

[me:] "uh, very good, thank you. (in my deep voice)"
[automated voice:] "Um, we're going to [unintelligible] and we're giving away twenty GE wireless security systems absolutely [emphasis] free and we're also upgrading all the outdated landline systems to wireless systems again, [laughs] absolutely free. The thieves are cutting your phone lines on the outside of your home which disables your old, outdated system. Um, one in fifteen houses are being broken into every day right now. So, are you the current homeowner?"

[me:] "Did  you say free? Yes...Yes, I am."
[automated voice:] "Oh great, you qualify. Um, now I'm going to put you on with a security specialist who can answer any additional questions you may have with your new system, ahem, please hold on a moment and I thank you for your time...is that ok?"

[me:] "Say again? What is your name please?"
[automated voice:] "You..well, the systems have a lot of different options, um, I know you're busy and I don't want to take a lot of your time but do you have a few minutes to hear how it works? I promise it will be well worth your time. I'll transfer you over to a security specialist to...details. Please hold on and thank you for your time...is that ok?"

[me:] "Is what ok? Yes."
[automated voice:] "Hold on."  [two electronic transfer blips are heard]

[live voice:] "Hello? (background call center voices can be heard)

[me:] "Hello?"
[live voice:] "Yeah hi, this is [unintelligible] with GE home security, how you doing today?"

[me:] "I am just fine, how are you today?"
[live voice:] "Pretty good.</I> [electronic HOLD or disconnect sound heard]

[me:] "Well that's nice, I stayed on the line and they disconnected...</I>" [I keep up some patter thinking he might pick up again, but he does not and I stop recording]
