if you get a call where they say "this is a courtesy call press any button to continue" hang up the phone because when you press that button the get all of your information and If you get a call that sound suspicious hang up and don't press anything. its mostly like "if you are an idiot press any button to continue" if you get any calls like that hang up right away.
I answered the call and it was a recorded message. "this is a courtesy call from card member services about your card...." then it went on to tell me that they had called me many times. They didn't mention the card and did not take into account the fact that all of my credit cards are in good standing have no delinquencies.
Sounds like some scammer that wants to get you info to me.
This business is using hundreds of different numbers. I don't know how they are doing it. Some come across as toll free numbers. Others have many different area codes. I have tried everything I know to get rid of these calls, but I get at least 2 a day. I just received 1 from telephone number 877 444-2200. All of the calls begin with "This is a courtesy call from card member services." I immediately press the number 3 to be connected to a live body. My first somewhat civil attempt to stop the calls was by using a ruse. I answered their many questions about my credit card debt (I HAVE NONE) by lying. I gave them a made up total. I gave them the names of a couple of major credit cards and several department store cards. After they began to try to find a way to "help" me, I finally told them that I was mostly trying to get to a live body to ask that they take my name off their calling list. I was given a lecture of how I had just wasted HER valuable time where she could have been making a living. I explained that calling me would not make her any money since I had no credit card debt. I told her I was on a do not call list and I asked that she remove me from her calling list. She laughed and said they would continue to call me and now that I had been so rude she would see to it I got the maximum number of calls. She hung up before I got the opportunity to have my say. Now, I always press the number 3. I will either leave the phone lying on the table, wait until someone picks up and scream as loud as I can in their ear or use a whistle. Nothing has gotten them to stop. I did file a report with the FCC, but nothing has come of it. Here are a list of other numbers that have just come through in the past few days:

I hate to use the word STUPID, BUT, YOU NEVER GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION ON THE PHONE !!!!!!!!!! If you don't have caller ID--GET IT. Answer calls ONLY from people you know. The dO NOT CALL LIST IS A SCHAM Companies have to request and pay for the do not call list. When you press any number on the phone it does not mean anything. It just verifys that the phone number is valid and you live there. NOW THEY HAVE ALL THE NAMES OF YOUR CREDIT CARDS AND A LOT OF PERSONAL INFORMATION. Get ready for a lot more calls and keep an eye on all of your credit card purchases etc. THEY GOT YOU. Don't you read the paper, listen to the news , read all of these pieces of information ?????? It's people like you that make the SCAMMERS DAY. They probably got a HUGE BONUS for all of the information you gave them and when you press buttons on the phone they got another bonus. Only some of the legimate businesses use the don't not caall list. It's just like the gun laws--the good guys have their guns registered-the bad guys are the ones without having guns registered and they are the ones commiting the crimes. To purchase a gun in the U.S. a F.B.I chech is required. remember-don't answer the phone from anybody or business you don't know. IF YOU NEED TO TALK TO THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY --YOU CALL THEM.
