I also received a call from phone #989-546-2002. It came up on caller id but when I answered all I got was a dial tone. Do not give any information over phone for sheriff's dept. They do not solicit by phone.
I am so tired of getting multiple daily, as well as meny multiple weekly phone calls from this Phone Number 080-546-2002, at all times of day and night. Being that my number is on the 'no call list' it makes it more agravating to know that because they are exempt and that they are raising money for charity they are exempt from respecting the 'Do Not Call List'. They are almost worse than the Companys that used to call before Do Not Call was established.
We received a call just before 9pm on 12/6/11 from 989-546-2002 and when my grandma answered the phone, they asked for my dad who has NEVER lived here with us (my parents have been divorced for almost 18 years). Called the number back and got the same message that "P st" got. Did a little google searching and noticed that the website for the so-called "Michigan Deputy Sheriff" doesn't really exist, and the facebook page is really interesting. Please be careful. I hate to say it, but there are some not-so-nice people out there trying to take advantage of the holiday season and kind-hearted people who give to charities.
We've received calls from these people. Fortunately I have a job and work so many hours that I have yet to be here to pick up the phone.
I doubt any solicitors for public servants would be doing this type of marketing. Nonetheless, I suggest for anyone tired of receiving these calls to 1) find a telephone service that allows you to selectively block these losers' phone numbers. We use a Voip service that allows you to enter phone numbers to block/black list/add to a Do Not Disturb list. Some Voips make it simple by adding a DND click Icon right next to the phone call list line item (Phone number calling inbound).
Good luck to all. Make someday this phone terrorism will be a thing of the past. BY actively blocking these 'business practices' the costs will finally outweigh the benefits and they'll stop.
