202 506 9240 Person said he was from IRS I called back from another phone and asked for John Koskinen (the IRS Commissioner) and was told that no one by that named worked there. Probably more truth to that than any thing else the dude said.
Got a message from a Mark Victor, I think. His had a heavy Indian accent so I couldn't make out all of what he was saying. Said I had a deficiency in my income tax and I needed to call back right away. When I called, the message said that I reached the IRS office of the inspector general and to leave my name and number because all their representatives were busy. Some kind of scam!
My mother got this message on her cell phone and since she has trouble with the voicemail (she can't remember the code) I checked it. Obviously an Indian accent and I seriously doubt the IRS has outsourced it's callers. Obvious scam. The real IRS would send anything important by registered mail either through the post office or FedEx.
A man using the name Mark Richter called several times leaving messages on our answering machine. He has what sounds like an Indian accent. He knows my name and says he is with the Internal Revenue Service and calling about deficiency in income taxes. He threatens and tries to intimidate. I know it is a scam, but I like to report it so others are aware.
