They are back again and they are calling 2-3 times a day. They keep calling if I answer the phone or not. They pretend to be calling from Windows (computer company). I started laughing and said "you guys are back? I'm going to have to). They hung up immediately before I could finish my sentence. They are scammers! I truly hope no one falls for their scam.
These idiots goals are to take control of your computer remotely (if you give them the information to do so) to install some software that will require you to pay a ransom fee to unlock your computer. No one contacts you out of the blue to tell you you have a problem with your computer. Hang up on them or have a little fun with them by keeping them on the line for a bit and then say "Okay we've got a trace on there location. We know where they're located. Send the team...ha!
I have received two calls but haven't answered. The best way I have found to get rid of them is to waste their time. Pretend you are going along with it until they get to the part where they want you to go to a website. Then when they ask if you've done it and they ask what it says say "It says it's a scam!" They didn't call back after I wasted about 10 minutes of their time. Or pretend you can't use a computer and they have to tell you how to turn it on.
