Got a call from these morons earlier today on my cell. They let it ring once and hung up. I don't answer the phone if the number is private or one I don't recognize. However, this is a scam where they call you and hang up, in hopes that you will call them back. If you call them back, you will have erroneous charges on your phone bill. This scam has been going on in Arkansas for over a year, creating a multitude of victims. FYI AT&T won't take the charges off your bill or refund them. They claim that they are not responsible. Check out the Arkansas Attorney General website. There is an entire section dedicated to this scam as well as the "Windows IT Department" scam. You can help the FTC stop calls like these by filing a complaint. Even if they cannot find these people and prosecute or sue them, they can help you recoup any money the scam artists squandered out of you, and you can help them impose stricter laws on telephone companies. Some of those laws may be that calls without the correct caller identification displayed would be banned meaning that it would be impossible for anyone to make a call of their information is blocked or spoofed. Another one may be that the apps that allow jack holes like these to spoof their numbers would be eliminated and banned. The limits are endless. If you're really fed up with calls like this, as much as I am, start filing complaints with your state attorney general and the FTC every time you receive a call such as this.
Quit answering EVERY NUMBER that calls you!! If you don't recognize a number, DON'T ANSWER IT! Set your phone to a nice ringtone for all your friends & family in your Contact List, and then set up a bad ugly sounding ringtone for all numbers that are <unknown> to your phone. If they're legit, they'll leave a message. and if they're not, i have found taht they never leave a message. Then sit back and only answer calls from people you know.
Every Time you answer your phone for an unknown number, you give away more of your privacy to a scammer intent on getting your money or making you mad. RESPECT yourself (they don't respect you at all!) and stop answering every unknown number that calls you. And !NEVER! call an unknown number back. NEVER!!! EVER!!!!
The 'Do Not Call' list gets violated by scammers all day, every day. Think about it - They're scammers!! They d0n't care about the law?!! Instead, do yourself a favor and put yourself on the "DO NOT ANSWER" list by NOT ANSWERING EVERY STUPID UNKNOWN NUMBER THAT CALLS YOU!!!
