Got email from Shoaib Khan - "I have a position in a company in your city, please send resume". I did it and got a call from this guy (this is his number). He has STRONG accent and does not look like a recruiter... He asked about my desured rate, immediately agreed with it and then started asking personal information - date of birth, ssn(!). I said him to do not call me anymore and dropped the call.
Be careful, it is personal info collection!
I got the call 4 times from the same # on different days and I let it go to the voice mail. Just elevator music so I figured some junk called and when searched for the # I realized they are collecting information. Thanks everyone for sharing your experience
These [***] are unbelievable ... this is one of the rare occasions when everything points to a SCAM and lucky for me I have proof why. First I receive an email with a job offer ... unsolicited and out of State. I'm in AZ and the job offers are in CA and TX. The alias used is Ahmed Malik but that wasn't what caught my eye. The street address for this so-called consulting company was in my home town of Norwalk, CT and was also my old home address from when I was a kid. The other thing was I know for a fact that this condo was not zoned for a business. Next came the phone call from 1 203 652-1444 ... says NEW CANAAN CT on caller ID but the clincher for me was my Voice Mail was unable to transcribe the message ... always a red flag. Stay far away from Panzer Solutions.
Called twice. Did not answer but has a voice mail from the first call. It was hold music that sounded like a C- music major decided to create a Muzak version of a John Tesh song.
CID shows 'Panzer' I wish I had a Panzer...a Panzer tank...and was point blank range of the caller. I'd treat him like a sleep-deprived North Korean cabinet member.
Got a call from them at 2:30 PM on September 9, 2015.
Let it roll to voicemail. Surprise, they didn't leave one. Probably because my voicemail also includes the phrase, "If this is a telemarketer, this number is on the Do Not Call list".
I don't think they left a message, anyway.
One thing that should be obvious: If a tech recruiter asks you for your SSN, they aren't a recruiter.
