Just got this same call with the same information. I looked this number up through Google and guess what I found. Lots and lots of other people have had this as well.
I received a call from this number, it told me i qualified for $7,000 in grant money, it also was loud and unprofessional, The foreign speaking "representative" already knew my address, phone number (of course)
and my first and last name. She was asking me to conform the information then she gave me another number to call and a confirmation code number. When I called the number she provided (206)201-2218 A rude foreign lady answered. I was loud on this call as well, she asked me to hold on after I said hello, she didn't ask me anything then said she was pulling up my file. She addressed me by my full name then asked me what reason did the previous Representative give me for why i was receiving the Grant money. I told her I couldn't understand the other representative but I told her I do have a conformation number of some sort. She began to raise her voice and scold me for not listening to the previous caller then said I need to call the old Rep. back and get the information, the number (928)783-8284 I looked the number up and it's in Arizona. The number did not work it was out of service though she just called. neither number worked- i just want to know how they accessed my info.
Same thing just happened to me- when I questioned Mr Swagger- he got veru rude and slammed down the phone. I have reported it to our local sherriff department. This is a scam- let your family & friends know.
You have been approved for $7000 in a federal grant to assist you with your mortgage, medical bills- would you like it in the form the following forms- into your banking account, mastercard/visa or cash- was provided with my grant # and to call 206-201-2218 and speak with Mr Swagger to collect my monies- I called and inquired what company he was with and he let out a line of profanity and hung up. Please do not fall for this.
I just got a call from 281-857-3991, which is in Houston, TX. They are saying that the government is awarding a grant of $7,000 to people for meeting the following criteria:
- They have not filed bankruptcy in the last 6 months
- They have payed all of their bills on time in the the last year
- They have never had a criminal record
Unfortunately, I don't fit this profile. My bankruptcy completed a few months ago, largely because I was unable to pay bills on time. And to top it off, 20 years ago I had quite a few run ins with the law, meaning my record is not so squeaky clean.
However, they could see from their records that I do meet all of the criteria and they are happy to tell me that I have been chosen by the Federal Government to receive "this grant monies."
They give you the option of receiving your monies in various methods, deposited into your bank account, your credit card or cash. If you refuse to answer, they say "Fine, we will just do cash then, ok?"
They do have some personal information from you, such as your name and address (though the operator read the zip code incorrectly and was not about to correct her) and try to get your age (I gave them a false age), which the operator confirmed that it matched her records, and was "very good."
Next they give you a confirmation number which you will need to claim your monies, which will be mailed to you in cash. The confirmation number consists of the initials from your first and last name and four random numbers, at least I believe that they are random. I have not confirmed that they are random yet. because the number that they give you to call so that you can speak with the supervisor to authorize the transfer of the monies, 206-201-2218, rings twice then goes to fast busy.
I wanted to try and use a different confirmation number and see if they can find me without it. I guess that I will have to report back.
Happened to me too. I was told EVERYTHING that has been said above. I talked to the Mr Swagger guy, and he said he would call me back. I asked when, and he swore, and hung up. When I tried to call back, my number was blocked. Guess I am not getting a random 7,000 dollars today, but at least I wasn't scammed. Don't try and push it. Total idiotic scam, done by idiots.
