Would like to discuss my nonexistent tax bill.
Insists I file a complaint with the FTC if I don't believe him more than my accountant. Recites off tax code as his claim to fame.
The FTC is supposed to follow up and eliminate these calls. The FTC is a government agency and is, therefore, incompetent. Pro-biz politicians prevent enforcement of various pro-consumer regulations. So, enjoy fraud, scams, cheating, et al. All the FTC would need to do is catch one such company and hang its owners/execs. That would put a stop to fraud and at a low price. Never happen. We get what we tolerate.
Actually it wouldn't . These calls originate in India and Pakistan and they ignore all US laws. Call blocker is your best bet. There's little the US authorities can do and the Indian and [***] authorities do almost nothing.
Lets pray for the people who have time to play on the phone trying to scam people.
The recording said, This is the IRS, we have been trying to reach you. This is our last and final attempt. Please call 206-201-2445 immediately.
I got the same call today, I am so glad that I googled the phone #, but I feel sorry for the poor people that don't have internet access, and call them back.
