I'm actually an out-sourced employee for T-Mobile Customer Service and I'm amazed how many people are being affected by this. I was just reading some information about this, and I found it odd that there would be two specific numbers that were causing duplicate messages. As the current article in my knowledge base is titled, "Duplicate SMSs to the Numbers 206-313-0026 and 404-455-0007." So I Googled the numbers to try and find out more information about them which led me here.

As a(n indirect) T-Mobile employee, I understand I'm somewhat the enemy here, but I'm also a fellow cell phone owner and I imagine I'd be pretty heated if these charges were appearing on my bill (I use a different provider). I'm posting here to hopefully let everyone know that the issue has been resolved and T-Mobile is in the process of correcting the bills of those affected. Just call us and we'll get you taken care of...

"There is an issue where some customers may be charged for duplicate SMSs when SMSs were displayed in usage prior to October 25.

How to identify: Customers would have SMSs on or before October 24 to the following numbers:

206-313-0026

404-455-0007

Note: All SMSs to these two numbers prior to October 25 are considered to be duplicates."

Again, I get it that I'm working from behind enemy lines here, but I just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck in getting this resolved as quickly and painlessly (cheaply ;)) as possible.

-Michael

P.S. Just in case anyone doesn't know, "SMS" is synonymous with "text message."

pissed off
same thing happened to me....both #'s appeared on my bill but I never recieved any messeges..took me three calls to T-mobile to resolve the issue, they played stupid and claimed that this was the first they had heard of this problem then I came across this site and it's obvious that I was not the first to complain to T-mobile. I think this is real shady and reeks of intentional scam!! I have been a T-mobile customer for 8+ years and after the way I was treated by 2 out of the 3 represetitives I have decided to disconnect my service, what pisses me off the most is the blatant disrespect and lies about responsibility and knowledge of the problem.

Michael....I wanted to respond to your posting......as of 10/30/2008 T-mobile is still playing stupid and the reps I talked to claim to have no knowledge of this problem. the reps I spoke to had no desire to remove the charges and insisted that I recieved the messeges in dispute.....I hope what you say is true as far as T-mobile being willing to work with loyal customers to resolve this issue, however I have contacted the BBB, my atty gen, and will do what ever I have to in order to get my point across. T-mobile will not get one over on me/us they will be held acountable.

I just spoke at length with T-Mobile about this, and was even forwarded to a manager. They were not willing to remove the charges, because they insisted they were texts I received. The explanation was that I received these texts when I was using a non T-Mobile cell tower so the numbers were not reported correctly, even though they were supposedly real texts. However, I tell people to NOT send me texts and rarely send or receive any. When 5 are coming through in the same day, its definitely bogus. Also, with his explanation, this would have happened previously. Also, considering that I live within 15 miles of the T-Mobile headquarters, this area has pretty good coverage.

What I am doing, and I urge you to do the same:
I will not be paying these charges. This will cause some problems, but is important. I will also be making a claim to the BBB and the Attorney General like the above person suggested.

Also, if you haven't yet, call T-Mobile and complain to their customer service reps! If/When they tell you no, ask for a manager! Keep a cool head, because yelling does no good. But make it clear that you are unhappy with this and plan to make a claim against them.

For the first time in over 5 years I have been unsatisfied with T-Mobile's customer service, makes me pretty sad.
