Just got a call from this number and since I didn't recognize it let it go to voice mail. Message was same as everyone else. I got on internet to check it out and so glad I did. Thanks everyone! Should we call the police about this? IRS knows where we live for sure so, has to be a scam.
I just received a call from this #, they left a message saying I was being sued by the IRS. I'm glad this was posted, I was pretty sure it was a scam, just wanted to know for sure.
I also returned the call. I knew the area code was Washington state. I was pretty sure it was a scam, but called back just to be sure. Person who answered the phone had a discernible accent. He said his name was John Miller. I asked him what the mailing address was and he said 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington DC (I forget what zip code he said). I asked why he was giving me a Washington DC address when the number was from Washington state. He said the calls are routed there. I asked how I knew this was really the IRS. He said I could look up his name and badge number if I went to "ftc.gov/irs." He said FTC was for federal tax commission. I said, no, FTC is the federal trade commission. I said I know this is a scam and he hung up on me.
Received call at 11:30 this morning.The remote call told me I owed income tax from 2008 - 12 and to call a number and ask for extension 260. Instead I called the number on my caller ID. A man with thick Hispanic accent answered. I was very pushy requesting a supervisor. He kept telling me to shut up he didn't want to hear what I wanted. Told me officers were going to pick me up within 2 hours unless I did what he said and I would go to jail. l told him his Hispanic accent was to heavy for me to understand and I wanted a supervisor, he put me on hold and a couple of minutes later a man with same voice answered and said he was Officer Patrick Hunter. When I told he sounded the same as previous person with the same accent and inflectons he disconected after I was again told to shut up..
I too almost had the identical conversation. Only it was not a Hispanic accent, it was an Indian accent. He was intimidating and he threatened me with lawsuit and policemen. He proceeded to say he was an officer of the government and I shouldn't yell at him. I told him just because he works for the government does not give him the right to call me at home and threaten me and tell me that I did receive a letter at home when I didn't.
ifunny ask to be transferred to a supervisor and he said no that I could talk to him to give him one more chance I said no I need to speak to somebody that's going to understand what I'm saying he then said "call me back in 15 minutes"

H&R Block messed up my taxes about 12 yrs ago, so I know they don't call you. You would receive a certify letter with the amount owed and an explanation for the error you made on your taxes.
