Just got a call from this number and since I didn't recognize it let it go to voice mail. Message was same as everyone else. I got on internet to check it out and so glad I did. Thanks everyone! Should we call the police about this? IRS knows where we live for sure so, has to be a scam.
I thought this was probably a scam, but it was a new one so I took it seriously enough to write down the number and google it, and so found this page. I am so grateful to those of you who did call so that I can be more certain that I don't have to call them back. Maybe they are trying to get social security numbers for illegal workers to use. Maybe they think they can get other info. I hope no one falls for this.
I have been receiving calls from the above number (206)-317-1701 daily for aboiut a week now. I just let them go into voice mail and only the tail endof their message comes thru because their recording starts before my voice mail picks up. Didn't know what calls were about until reading this site... just knew it had to be a scam since very few known parties have my number. Don"t understand why the authorities can't shut these scammers down!
I also got the call, voicemail after a long day working at a large accounting office here in NYC. The quality of the call my not good, breaking up like a bad cell phone connection. Not a moment did I worry. The IRS never calls or emails anyone. They use snail mail. Really bad comes registered mail, return receipt.
I have been getting calls from this number for several weeks with no message. I do not answer calls that appear as "unavailable" as the caller id because they are generally solicitations or other unwanted calls. Friday, June 19th there was actually a computer generated message informing me that the IRS was filing a lawsuit and to return their call at this number. I did not because I have had IRS issues and I know they send certified mail if they want to contact you, NEVER would the real IRS phone with such a message.
