Got the same call as Mike.
He kept asking if who was the main user and got mad and raise his voice when I told him it was a family computer.
I told him not to raise his voice at me and hung up.
Never got a chance to ask him to many question, since my guard went up as soon as he told me that he was from MS and was a Tech.
First red flag came when he only knew the initial of my first name.
Second flag came when I remember that the computer came from my neighbor and my name should not be attach!
Received call from 206-424-8912 from a man with a heavy Indian/Pakastanian accent claiming that my computer had been taken over by hackers and that he was with Microsoft Service to help me.
When he asked if my computer was on. I said "NO, I turned it off a couple of months ago and I'm strictly using my cell phone now. OH!, he said and hung up.
HAHAHAHA
This guy is a idiot, I guess he thinks all seniors are stupid.. said my computer was infected, and he was going to fix it free, Yea/Sure your are you dam Hacker. Go get a job, and earn money the normal way/ People like you need to be in prison/Or be deported back to your country/ SCUMB BAG
Got this same call from a strongly accented Indian woman who told me my computer was infected with a bunch of viruses. I simply said, "This is a scam" and hung up. To my knowledge, there is no way she could know what is on my computer and I certainly wasn't buying anything nor letting her take control of my computer to check it!
Got a call from an Indian accented man who said he was from the Windows Technical Section and that my computer was infested and that he had called to help me clear up the problem. I must have had a brain freeze because I did everything he said and he ended up taking over my computer. Messages started showing up on my screen telling me of all these viruses my computer had. All the while, he's talking to me about my problems. Finally, the screen showed the cost of an anti-virus program for 1, 2, and 3 years. He kept asking me which one I wanted to buy. When I said that I wanted to buy none of them, he told me that I wouldn't be able to use my computer anymore. I finally hung up, but when I subsequently went back to my computer, I couldn't get into it because he had put a password on it. I had to take the computer to a computer repair shop where it cost me $100 to have the password removed. Bottom line: Hang up when you get a call from this number!
