I just rec a call they tried to get me to settle on a 680.00 Lon from 2011 that I never rec.. After I told him I was a collector myself and how I would sue his [***] with the ropes that I know BC my job is legal he hung up..
Caller keeps on calling me about a legal action but when I call back no one's answer. So I call yesterday just the he'll of it and someone hung up on me then I called back and no one's answer so this is a scam.
I've received several calls from this " Paul Holding". Finally, I called back and someone named "Nicole" answers. I say, "I'm trying to reach someone named Paul holding". She places me on a 10 sec hold, returns claiming he's just a locator and I've been transferred of to her. Hmm, Ok. So I stated, I'm trying to figure out why you keep calling and leaving this " legal matter" message on my phone. When in fact I should have been notified in writing at some point? She gets snappy and says oh well I can't give you any information unless you verify who you are. I respond saying, I'm not giving you any person information, I don't even know who the hell you are. What's the name of your company? She wouldn't answer. I say, so you can call, leave a message claiming, it's in reference to a " legal matter", even leave a " reference number" but, you can't tell me the name of your company? She states, "no, not unless you verify some personal information first." Again, I'm not giving you any personal information. This is when the fast talking comes in! she starts throwing around the words, " attorney and courts" and states, I'll just make a notation and they will go from there. I respond, " Be my guest, and you should feel ashamed of yourself for trying to scam people!" She tries to defend herself but, starts stuttering and then just hangs up.
Just got a call from same company with exactly the same message. Never did get to speak to Paul. Wish him the best! I did answer the question of the last 4 of my SSN to see where this was headed. Claimed I taken out a Payday Loan in 2011 and had my address during which I lived in 2011. Proceeded to tell me about a claim and asked had I been notified. I told her no and that this was Bull#%$^. I told her politely to send me something in writing to my current address which I did not give her, using the proper Federal Guidelines for Collection Practices. She could not give me any information on who I owed because it was one of their affiliates. I just laughed and told her good luck, i'll see you in court. Who knows how they get this information?
