Just got a call and voicemail from this number. The message got cut off but it was a computer-generated women's voice asking me to call them back (same number) in order to access my "grant".
How can I stop this? I regularly get 4-5 of these types of calls every week.
This person say he work for yahoo. Unfortune when ask why dont youhave company name showing he replyed he indpendant contractor. he ask what time will you be home.
I called customer support of yahoo to verrified . They fail to verified this number. according to the agent spoke hequote, There a telemarker. They dont represent us.
Someone called using this number 2397191670 saying that they represented Microsoft. They said that they were calling in regard to a specific problem that I had reported on my computer. They had my information, but wanted more.
Told them to lose my number, and hung up on them. This is a trend with scammers, I've had 3 other calls claiming that they were with goverment agencies trying to give me money.
If a stranger calls with a foreign voice or you here that its a call center in the back ground and they want your info or want you to go to walmart to get a green dot card or something similar, just hang up.
Also, some of them are using Satellite phones, and if you call them back, they back charge you for about 15.00 a minute. I had to call my cell provider to get this charge removed (4 seconds for 15.00).
Just remember that if it sounds too good or if someone calls you out of the blue trying to fix your computer, that no one does anything for free. No one is going to call you and give you money, they ALWAYS WANT SOMETHING!
A foreigner (India?) called to say he was with Microsoft and I needed to install Windows update. Since I an IT person, I played around with him a little... but, when I asked him for his MS employee number and he hung up. I blocked taht number & you'd do go to do the same!
same thing. a foreigner from india claiming to be a microsoft employee wanting to perform a security update. this was a follow up call from june. the call i had received in june the microsoft rep called and said "somebody was hacking into my computer at this very moment." and then asked " are you at your computer?" i told him " no i was at work can you call me back later." hence the the follow up call today 2014/07/05. i missed the call today and returned the phone call. i read the post from brent 2014/06/19 and called my cell phone provider. cricket said there would be no charge for calling the number back but also warned me of the "F.B.I" virus being downloaded onto my phone and to get anit virus for my phone.i have also received the scam call from a foreigner from india claiming the government wanted to give me grant money and was asking if i had some kind of credit card to deposit the money to. be careful out there.
