Regarding the assorted "I don't know how they got my cell #..." comments:
It's called an auto-dialer. Calls are placed 100 or more lines at a time using a computer. They don't need your number- they simply call every 0000-9999 combination in a given exchange till they get a few that hit.
Bonus points: "Pressing 1" does not usually connect you to an operator because they only have a few live people actually handling the calls vs. the thousands of calls made. Some people are just going to get dropped because there is no live person available. However, it does VERIFY that the phone number is valid... making it much more valuable when it is then re-sold to other scammers.
The number you see on your caller ID is spoofed; it is not their real number, so please stop harassing whatever poor business had their identity stolen.
I have been receiving calls from this number for several weeks.
I checked with my bank, thinking the calls were coming from them,
I simply want them to stop calling me.
