I agree. They can say they are Sallie Mae if they are a collection agency trying to pick up the debt. This is usually the case, and I personally wouldn't be giving my info out to some trashy collection agency! If you ARE having financial issues then call them using their official number. If nothing else at least you are keeping them in the loop and sometimes they can even suggest options to help you out.
I had an Indiana number calling me and my family saying they were from Sallie Mae and then I called the number on the website and they said they would not have anyone calling me out of Indiana. My family would call the number back and it would say the business hours were now closed even though it was the middle of the day and literally 30 seconds after they called. I was advised against my phone company to answer the phone because they were asking for personal information and they were illegal calls because of state laws they were breaking.
You are all correct. Kelly Thomas is fake and Sallie Mae did outsource it's call center to India. When you call to ask a question you are transferred to people with fake "American" names that do NOT speak English. I couldn't understand a word the b!tch was saying. Die Sallie Mae die.
This is a endless cycle of calls. This loan has been put into deferrment many times due to difficulty finding a job after graduation. They have harassed my grandparents, parents, and me. No one seems to take information and record it. They always say it takes 3-5 days for the system to catch up and the calls to stop (so untrue...try weeks/months). The people are rude....and complaining to supervisor is a joke. It has taken up to 3 months to get the deferrment recorded correctly just in time to start all over again. It is always different rules when putting in deferrment. When someone who is kind finally gets it "straigthen out" there are still issues. I would recommend that no one uses Sallie Mae, or whatever the HE!! they call themselves now, for school loans. Their rates may be good but their service is awful and staff is so rude I cry everytime I have to deal with them. I never know for months if the information has been corrected and have to deal with my parents and grandparents being harassed by them.
It just amazes me that they are receiving payments (automatic payments) from my daughter and they are calling now to get payments from me. SALLIE MAE are a bunch of THIEVES AND LOW DOWN DIRTY PEOPLE. I told them you think I'm going to pay you when you are already receiving payments from my daughter (I have a copy of the agreement from Sallie Mae showing when payments are taken out each month). They already got sued, I think they NEED TO BE SUED AGAIN FOR THEIR DIRTY DEALINGS.
