Got the call from this number on my home phone when I pressed whatever number to speak to a live person it just went dead. Didn't hang up the call but was dead air for over a minute before I hung up. The next night I get the exact same pre-recorded message on my cell phone (which is not on the do not call...well wasn't, is now) only this one came in from 800-688-6486. The lady claimed she was with "Financial Services" in New York. I told her I kept receiving these same calls on my home phone which is on the do not all list and she got VERY beligerent almost yelling that they check numbers before calling. I finally told her I was reporting them and hung up while she was yelling. I think she was ticked she gave out the company name. Reports filed with the fcc @ http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm
Got call last night, listened to recorded message, pushed 9 out of curiosity, now says the number I am trying to reach is disconnected. Maybe it is over?
I was going to suggest that people answer these calls, press 9, and keep these scumbags busy as long a possible. Never give them any information, but just try to see how long you can keep them on the line before they get fed up and disconnect. Remember: TIME IS MONEY. The more of their time you waste, the more money you cost them. Ask they how they are doing today. Ask them what the weather is like. Ask them if they've called their mother lately. Ask them anything, but don't ever give them any personal informaion. In short, don't get mad, GET EVEN!
But now you say they've lost their call back number? So there's a rogue autodialer out there calling and calling, but it can't connect to the scumbag's call center? That's too bad. There goes my fun!
