I got the call mere minutes ago (2/12/2011, 7p.m., Pacific Time).  Obvious phishing scam, citing a WAMU card.  WAMU no longer exists, so its pretty transparent.

Recived a call from this # and it was a computerized voice saying my mastercard would be locked and to press 1 to get transfered to their security dept to reactivate.  hung up on it and called my bank to verify and they told me it was not a registered # for them.

Fake # or scam don't answer.

same- automated voice message saying they were from WM- i pressed 0 (to speak to a rep) and the phone call instantly disconnected . I received the same exact message from another number a few hours later  that number being 701-509-8703.

a few days ago i recieved one of these same messages from another number, only that time it was supposedly from BECU (boeing employee credit union)

Got the call from "WAMU" at 6pm on a Saturday (2-12-2011) to say my card was locked and asking for my 16-digit account number to unlock it.  WAMU doesn't exist and if they did they wouldn't call on a weekend evening and use a creepy recording to get my info.  So I played along and entered bogus numbers, which it said weren't recognized as existing accounts.  Hung up and called back.  It rang for quite some time, then I got the recording that you get from Sprint if your phone is shut off - that guy saying the call cannot be completed.  Reported it to the FCC and my local Attorney General.

Clumsy fishing scheme...

Got the same call in Seattle on the 12th, obviously fraudulent, but checked with my bank later on just to be sure (since my super-intelligent bank had previously locked my cards then called me on the phone asking for acct information using a machine!).

Flooding with bogus information is definitely a better solution if you can spare the time, too bad we can't coordinate with banks and give them the honeypot data to catch the buggers. Bankers, not too bright, keep losing their money.

Just seems like if you're clever enough to set up such an involved fishing scheme, you could get a real job.
