Just got a call from this number. He claims to be an officer in Florida by the name of Jim Foster. He claims I owe 860 on a 300 loan. I told him I would only pay this amount to the agency I borrowed it from. Then he tells me he can work with me and make an arrangement after he talks to the senior Attorneys. I need to pay 460 by 5pm today. He would not give me the name of the agency he was with in Florida. This sounds like a rip off. He also said this was his direct number (305) 395- 3409.
I got a call from a Patrick Wilson. I ended up hanging up on him. First of all I couldn't understand a word he was saying. He said that if I didn't send $970 Western Union by noon, he would start the legal proceedings. After I hung up, he called back and left a message saying that I could not run from this and that I will be amazed at what happens to me next. Was that a threat? So, this is a scam and shouldn't be worried?
Yep, it's a scam; the threats are all hot air. Regardless, this was an attempt to steal your money and you should report them to law enforcement. See my message above from April 1 from information on reporting these crooks to federal and state law enforcement. Hope this helps.
Oh my gosh, I received this call at work and I fell into the scam. They wanted 960.00 from me and I've paid 250.00. I feel like a fool. I'm really sick to my stomach right now.
Don't be so hard on yourself. Just be sure not to pay them anything else and report them to the law enforcement agencies listed in my message above from April 1. To that list of law enforcement agencies, I should add the U.S. Secret Service since they are responsible for investigating crimes relating to the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems.
You can call your local Secret Service field office and alert them to this scam. Here's the link listing the Secret Service's local field offices: http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml
