It's a scam. They have been calling off and on for about a year. Different phone numbers, different people who call, but it's always the same message. I block the numbers once I get a new one.
The one today said it was an attorney but didn't give me his name. They make it sound official so they scare you into paying. But don't give any information or verify any information over the phone. I believe if it is legitimate they would send me something to my home address. I've lived at the same address for 20 years so it shouldn't be hard to contact me if they are legit.
I get the same call and have been for 6+ months. They call from so many different phone numbers it's unbelievable. Today they called from 313-556-2618 and exactly 20 minutes later called from 610-675-0232 and they were both the same exact recorded messages. These people truly are scammers....DO NOT give them any information. If you have an Android phone there is an app in the play store called Mr Number and you can choose to hang up on someone so every time I get one of these calls I choose the phone number they call from to be hung up on. So, it just picks up and hangs up on them and they can't leave a message. That's why they keep changing numbers. I've filed a complaint with the California Attorney General's office and they really won't do anything about it. They mailed me back a generic response so I guess it's good to have it on file but don't set your expectations too high.
I have for a few years now, been receiving calls for a # / 313-556-2618; saying this call is for so and so (recording), that they are calling from "the process and summons division", (no State, or county or city , or company named), they go on to state "they are calling to notify me that there will be two charges filed against me in my county. Looks like fraudulent activity has been filed in my name and SSN;" We need to make you aware of your legal rights to address the charges prior to them being file against you. You need to do so before you receive your summons at your place of employment or home address. Once your served your rights will be forfeited. As far as I can tell they are trying to collect for a pay-day loan company or companies. Be aware,
I received this call on Friday January 17, 2014. When I googled 313-556-2618 I was directed to this site which tells me that this is a scam. I will try to file a police report asap.
These people have called multiple times saying they want a legitimate address to serve me with papers to pursue court . I understand I have some outstanding medical bills and some creditors that are on my credit report these people are not . I have been tempted to call them back with my attorneys name from Pittsburgh so they will stop harassing me for a bill I do not owe they really need to get their facts straight before calling someone or at least send out a letter instead of harassment
