323-489-7472 keeps calling me. Almost daily. Never anyone there to ask not to call back at the other end and they never leave a message. I am fed up with it!
I received this same call and tried to hold the caller on the line as long as possible. I figured if he's talking to me he can't be calling some vulnerable person who might be scared when he takes you to the part of the Event Viewer that will ALWAYS show errors even on a healthy computer, and then getting them infected.
I argued with him a bit that I didn't think Microsoft would be calling customers or monitoring the health of their computers, but he insisted that he works for Windows which is NOT Microsoft. Hmmm. Right. Just couldn't give me a straight answer about HOW he could be detecting this, and which of my several computers was he talking about. Really, if they are going to be trying to scam us, get callers who speak better English so you don't have to ask them to repeat themselves constantly.
The funny thing is that even when I told him that I work in IT and I knew he was trying to get me to download something I didn't want (the site infosis.net led to a page where I would download Teamplayer so he could get into my system ...don't worry I only opened the website on a test virtual machine :) Rather than raise suspicion of having you knowingly go to a webpage, he has you click on the Windows Key & 'R' -the run line - and enter the 'new technical command' www.infosis.net ) he didn't understand that I was trying to tell him I was on to him.
I also just filed a complaint to the FCC. I doubt it will do much good - they just move to different phone numbers.
I received this same call - foreign accent.....saying I have a problem with my computer...told him my computer was fine and hung up . This is the second call in a week from the same number.
They know me by my name. they want to get into my computer...something to do with windows. I keep telling them I don't have a computer and don't call me again. I get these calls numerous times a week some times numerous times a day. I'm sick of it! Please make them stop!
I just received two calls (less than 5 minutes apart) from this number. The person claimed to be with Microsoft and wanted to help me with the problem on my computer. His Indian accent was so thick that I had difficulty understanding him. I told him that I hadn't used my laptop in quite awhile because I typically use my iPad. He kept insisting that I had problems. I hung up on him. I didn't answer the phone on the second attempt.
