i called them and just told them I had just gotten this cell phone number since I was put in the witness protection program and further calls to this number would be sent to my handler for action.
I have received calls from this #, thurday, friday, and now monday. The voice recording states they are from GE Money with Dillards Credit Services. I originally ignored the call as I do not have a Dillards account nor have had any dealings with GE Money. Today I decided to call to find out why I keep getting the calls and to be removed from the calling list. The automated recording says to call 800-375-0060. The recording at this # requests an account #, which I do not have. After several times of ignoring the request for the acct # (no other option to move forward) it then proceeded to ask for my social security # to identify the caller! Again, I ignored the automated request several times. Finally, someone came on the line. He barely spoke english but asked for my acct #. I stated I dont have an acct # and would like to be removed from the calling list. He then asked me for my social security #, just as the recording did. When I said NO, I would not provide my s.s #, he advised I would be removed from the calling list and then he hung up. I have no idea if the calls will end, but to me this seems very much like an identity theft scam.
GE Money is trying to collect a debt against a person named "Joshua Williams" on behalf of Dillard's Department Store. This is one of half a dozen numbers they are calling from. Don't know a Joshua Williams or how Dillard's and/or GE Money got the wrong idea that my phone number belongs to him. But the 5-10 calls I receive EVERY DAY for this poor guy have convinced me never to apply for Dillard's credit or even shop at Dillard's.
I am 1 day past due because I did it on-line yesterday & it wont process until Monday. They called at 8:00 am SUNDAY! I was under the impression that they are not legally allowed to call on Sunday let alone at 8:00 in the morning!
GE Money keeps calling me about 2-3 times a year looking for someone else, but with MY name. This morning they asked for my last 4 social s. numbers. I have never had an account with them. This one was apparently through Texaco. Weird. It makes me wonder if this is really GE Money and not some phone scam!!
