This number called 3x yesterday.........once I didn't answer, once they didn't leave a message and on the third try when my husband answered they asked for someone named "Johnson"- WRONG! They called again this morning and asked for my mother-in-law who doesn't live with us. We gave them her number when they said they were calling about Sam's Club. Did we do wrong? Does anybody know who/what they are or want? Our caller ID said GE MONEY ..........
They just called my house for the first time but I didn't know who they were until I looked it up on the interenet. Interesting because I got a postcard from GE Money saying that if I keep the account I agree to have phone calls placed to my cell phone even if incur charges and even if I have requested them not to call my cell phone in the past. I guess I'll see how many times they call and then close my account. I am not past due.
Here is a way to stop them, Call or wright your state's Attorney Generals office. By law a Creditor can only call you 1 time a day. They loop hole this law by not leaving a message, and waiting till they actually talk to you.
Inform your States AG office that they are calling you multiple times a day. Then expect a nasty letter from the company, but they will stop (the fine they get would be higher than what you owe them).
From this point forward they will only be able to communicate to you through mail. Be aware though that if you forget to pay your bill, there won't be a phone call to remind you, and you will most likely get a strike on your credit report.
