Caller claimed Citi bank fraud department was calling me to check on a credit card application. I already have two Citi Cards and did not receive a text or email from Citi. So i called Citi and they said they did not contact me and I should report the person who called me.
This was regarding my credit card- I had made a large purchase and they were checking the validity of it. They left a message and I called back the 1800 # (not the 423) it it was a legitimate call.
This actually was a legit call for me. I bought appliances at Best Buy, was on their land line as they were going through credit application and they handed me the phone. The lady stated they needed to verify the number on my app (I never give cell phone but did this time) so while on the phone with her (landline) she put me on hold and called cell phone and just asked to verify that I was actually applying for credit. I verified this and she returned to the land line and said thank you. No harm from this number in my opinion.
I received a call from this number for Tractor Supply Credit app. It is legitimate I had filled an online
application for in store credit, but of course it couldn't be completed without verifying more information. I didn't not call back because I don't want to be talked into more credit then I asked for.
In store credit if paid in full within six month no interested. I was asking for 600 dollars in store credit.
That shouldn't need further verification when I am making the payments at the store.
