I received call from an officer claiming for the IRS Investigation Department Mike Anderson and Eric. They had explained that I committed fraud on my tax return and that they were going to freeze my bank accounts. They wanted me to go to my bank and get some type of voucher to show that I was willing to make some sort of restitution. I told them to call back and found it was scam.
Received a message on my home phone today from this number saying she was Officer Katy Adams from the IRS and I had been identified as committing fraud on my tax return and to call them back asap. I knew it was a scam but called them back anyway because I felt like giving them a hard time. The man who answered said he was Officer James with the IRS. I could hear several people in the background saying the exact same thing. Must have been a huge room of phone banks. I asked him to prove to me he was with the IRS. He said he was an officer with the IRS and that was the proof. I told him I was going to report him and his group to the fraud division of the IRS and he said hang on I'll transfer you and then just hung up. Both him and the Katy officer had very thick asian accents. Public please be ware of these calls and don't get scammed!!!
I also got a voicemail today 12/18/14 from an officer Katy Adams from an Unknown number. She had a thick Asian accent so it seemed like a scam to me. Said something about tax evasion. The call back number is a 517 area code. People beware!!
