The caller knew my name and identified himself as representing senior something (Latino and hard to understand). As soon as I challenged him on the name of the company, he hung up.
I understand your frustration but to say DO NOT CALL List doesn't work is incorrect, at least where I live. I remember getting a dozen calls or more per day before DO NOT CALL List. Now maybe one or two and some days none at all. It has definitely helped.
I just received a call from 571-281-4336 caller id said unknown and I didn't answer. I remember watching on television an employee that once made these calls for a living stating they are to only verify if your phone number is actually a real phone number rather than just a random number dialed by the computer. Once they can verify your number is actually a real phone number they will add it to a list they compile and when large enough they sell this list to other telemarketing companies as verified phone numbers, which in turn leads to many more telemarketing calls. I never answer unknown calls as friends, family and other necessary calls will leave a message eventually if they can't reach me.
You got lucky...The guy told me to shut the F---- up and stop talking when I told him I wasn't on Medicare and wanted taken off their list, then he hung up on me. I reported it to the attorney generals office. They said this is a scam. I am so tired of telemarketers that I don't care what they are offering I am not interested, nor am I buying!
I received a call from 571-281-4336 which id'd as Centreville, VA. Something to do about a back brace I had seen on TV. When it said "Press '1' to speak to an operator now, I did so. When I asked to be removed from their computer, he hung up on me.
