These guys have been calling me incessantly. After speaking at length with the first young man, he finally broke down and told me that it was a scam! I encouraged him to go to school. He said that he had already been to school and had graduated but couldn't find any other job. I told him that it was obvious that he was not happy doing that kind of work because he would have moved on to the next victim by then. I told him that if he found a job helping people rather than victimizing them, that he would feel better about himself and his family would be proud of him. He said that he knew I was right but he had to continue there until he could find something better. Waste of time though, of course, as the calls continue. The next call was from a woman who told me that she needed to speak with my husband about his pending arrest. I told her that thanks to the previous call, we had been alerted and my husband was already in jail. I told her how much I appreciated her kindness in informing us of the looming arrest and since I had to give all my money to the police, I had nothing left to give to her. She immediately hung up. Now I'm just getting non-stop voice mails from "Officer James Anderson".
I answered the phone and there was an electronic voice claiming to be from the IRS alleging that the person they are calling has unpaid taxes and they threaten that they are having a warrant issued for my arrest. I was instructed to call Officer James Anderson @ 571-290-2027. I reviewed my phone call log and there have been 4 calls from that number today. Sounded like a scam so I Googled the number and found this site. Thanks to all for posting their experiences. Confirmed my suspicion!
Thank you for posting that you have been receiving these calls. I also had two messages from Officer James Anderson claiming he was from the IRS tax fraud department. I figured it was a scam but wanted to check out the phone number to be sure.
I reported this guy calling earlier today. I went to take care of some business and when I got back this guy called 3 more times and actually left messages that I needed to call back if I didn't want to see a warrant for my arrest.
When I called Jennifer Smith back and told her that every time she identified herself as an IRS agent, she was committing a felony, she hung up on me, of course. One young man who answered at the bogus number said "f_ _ _ you" to me and hung up. Why aren't these people being pursued and stopped?
Same thing. Today the name was Officer James Anderson; yesterday same message but the name was something like Vivien Sanders but the same voice and accent. Figured it was a scam since did not specify who the IRS was accusing of tax fraud and since the word is out on these sorts of calls. Still amazing to see how many people are being called since I assume only a small subset are taking the time to report them.
