1. It is not the IRS
2. You would not be put in jail even if you did we money
3. The caller was a scamming thief - probably in India or Pakistan.
4. The real IRS mails letters if there is a problem.
uhoh The "County Sheriff Officer of my City" is going to arrest me if I don't call them back immediately at the IRS Headquarters about this "extremely serious" and "time sensitive" matter. "If we don't get a call back from you, be prepared for all of these actions to be taken against you". All said in a heavy Indian (?) accent ending with "Have a blessed day"!
I'm prepared...
Just received same message..."calling from IRS - be prepared to pay all legal fees if we do not call back". Called back got a supposedly IRS agent (Badge #89281) - asked him to send the papers and his response was "That's okay" and hung up. He also had a accent (most likely from India) and there was alot of noise/confusion in the background. Just like the other responses, it appears to be some kind of 'sick' prank
