I'm not sure when the call came in; I just happened to see my light blinking on my answering machine. I thought the man sound like he had a Spanish accent - whatever country it certainly wasn't American! I heard on news recently about these calls so I didn't call the number he provided and just deleted the voice message.
I agree with some of the older posts - I hope NO BODY calls and gives any personal information. That would shut down their operation.
I get these calls every now and then and I really do not get how they can call people and make threats and there is no way to track them down and have them prosecuted. I am sure there are many elderly people that fall for these scammers and give them what they want because they are afraid. Sick!
Same happened to me - when a message says "under your name", "County Sherriff in your City"; with no personal information, I assumed it must be a scam. But, I agree I would like to find a throat to choke for wasting my time and energy.
