This has been going on for more then a year, several in fact. Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan. Not much can be done since those are out of our jurisdiction.

•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
I received a call Monday 27, 2014 in Northern California at home from an IRS agent- It's a scam. He said his named Garry Anderson with an IRS #ID W28735 & Adam Wilson IRS #ID W25995. They both tell you that you are were audited years 2005-2012 & did not pay your taxes correctly by their office located at: 111 Constitution NW Washington, DC. & you are in 1) Violation of Federal Tax Regulation 2) Violation of Internal Revenue Code 3) Willful misrepresentation of information to a Government Organization. And they said they have sent me two letters regarding my taxes-Total scam!!
They also tell you that your Bank Accounts, Driver's license, All Work wages will be frozen, your car seized, passports frozen & a lien put on your house. Plus if I don't pay $6, 578.95 -in 90 minutes or I will be arrested by my local Law Enforcement. They want payment not in Credit card or Debt cards but in Western Union & you have 90 mins to get their & make a payment to them. I tracked the phone number 1-571-526-0009 to a cell phone located in Herndon, Virginia. I called the FBI & reported the scam it on their website to: www.ticta.gov. 1- 202-927-7018. I also called Herndon, VA-Law enforcement & their District Attorney’s office reported this scam & person lives in their area who is IRS impersonator. Beware! Do not give them any personal information or money. This is large scam & a large ring of people involved in this scam. There is another scam call of an IRS agent named- John Paul-out of DC area,-number. my friend received mid October. The 3-people are from India with a heavy India /middle eastern accent. Their is also a PGE-scam out their too. This is a Federal Crime & they will be caught & prosecuted in Federal court & thus go the Federal prison. Please if you get a call either from these scammers of saying -IRS or Treasury, Dept agents & PGE bill scam.. Please report these calls with their name & phone numbers to the FBI web site www.ticta.gov. 1- 202-927-7018. & your local Law enforcement. Lets get these people caught & off the streets & put them in Federal Prison where they belong to rot in hell. Everyone watch out for all new types of scams out their!!!
I too had a call on my answering machine with a person whom sounded to be from India with a heavy India /middle eastern accent named Adam Wilson also claiming that I would be arrested and that a tax audit legal petition notice was filed against me. Total scam, I never returned any call. Why can't our government get a handle on these type of fraudulent individuals??

10-28-2014, I received a call from this number also. India accent, sounded like Guy Anderson from the IRS. He said there was a 'legal petition' against me and that I must call back or I would be arrested.
I call the number three times, two time a male with eastern India accent answered. Neither would talk except to ask me my phone number. I provided nothing.
I got a call yesterday. I returned a call, knowing in advance that this a fraud. Guy's "name" was Jerry William. He spoke with a heavy Asian accent. Said that I would be arrested in 2 hours. He gave me case number, judge's name, items of violation.
Also, he knew my name and address, but nothing else. He insisted that they sent me notifications twice!
I told him to f..k himself. He said that I insulted authorities and would be arrested.
In a minute I called him back and said that police has been notified. That's it. Number now accept messages only.
