Kept saying my name over and over and my number is unpublished. Then said he was from
the Fireman's Association I hung up on him. I'd like to know how they get someone's number
when I pay for it to be unpublished.
Local Call Area not Local Area Call. Found the number On my CID two days in a row. I keep notes and checking back I found many different numbers with the same BS line about Firefighters Fund stretching over three years.
This is in response to all those wondering how they get your numbers....In the old days when I was unlucky enough to be a telemarketer, we used a book called Hall's Complete Tele-reference, Every number in the USA is in it whether you like it or not because the publisher sued all telecoms and won the info on the freedom of info act. The Supreme Court held that unlisted numbers privacy can not be detrimental to legitimate business. In today's hi-tech world it is much easier using a machine known as an auto-dialer /data compiler. Put in simple terms it calls numbers starting at 000-000-0000 to infinity and at the same time accesses phone company records matching names and addresses to the numbers.Paying extra for "unlisted" is a scam to make phone companies richer. If you complain they will gladly assign you a new number at a small fee of course or refer you to your states "do not call" registry. The problem with those-- charities and bill collectors are exempt from the restrictions and so is any body who knows how to abuse the system. Write your congress person and also the Supreme Court and tell them how much you appreciate the loss of your rights.
God bless America---before the government utterly destroys it!!!
