a man calling himself Fred from the Home Center. Offers to have someone come out and give an estimate on house work. Wouldn't give an office location other than San Jose, Redwood City or Mountain View, but no street address or contactor license number.
I told him not to take me off the list and not to call and he wouldn't shut up. I told him I suspected his number was bogus, and called him right back. Surprise, it actually got to him. You can definitely hear a call center sweat shop in the background, tons of other callers. Told him never to call back again.
He called again about 4 minutes later. Please give this a-hole a ring and waste his time like he wasted mine.
I've gotten a large number of "handymen" and "Windows Support" scam artists calling from the same set of numbers.
The handymen are probably part of a burglary ring; where the callers case your home through phone calls to determine when you are or aren't home, and then if they do get someone, send out a "representative" to assess your belongings to see if there's anything worth stealing from your home, all the while actually having an actual skilled worker as their front man to cover for them.
U-Verse zapped this number, and the local police and San Mateo county Sheriff's office are aware of them.
