Some guy, Indian or Pakistani accent, calls me 5 - 10 times over the past couple days. Never leaves a message. I actually answered today and he calls me by name (obviously has bought my information from someone) and says my name was selected 'for something free'. I told him no and hung up. He refused to tell me who he was or his company. It's a scam. Period.
Called claiming to for government education grant. I asked him for his name and employee number so I could call and verify he was from a legitimate government entity. Kept going on about how they wouldn't ask for my personal info and I kept asking for his name and employee ID, then he hung up. Comes up as a number from Cali, but that's probably a reroute.
