Called saying there was some type of lawsuit against my cousin and I was the emergency contact. Called three times, left two messages. Both messages were the same voice but the "name" of the woman changed. Also, my cousin would make her mother or sister her contact. Not me. Called her to find out if it was true and it was a scam
Caller: Hello I'd like to speak to the home owner.
Me: no.
Caller: ...no? I can't speak to one?
Me: Who are you? You never stated your name or where you're calling from.
Caller: I'm John from (a solar company. I forgot the name)
Me: i don't own a home -
Caller: - do you rent?
Me: i don't own I don't rent and I want you to delete this number and never call again.
Caller: okay ma'am. Have a nice day-
I googled the company - doesn't seem to exist. Sounded like an Indian accent.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money. They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.
