While it may be fun to mess with them it likely will just validate your number and you will get even more calls. One comedian I heard says when telemarketers call he gives it to his 2 year old kid to talk to them. Go to YouTube and do a search for Tom Mabe. He does these great pranks called Revenge on the Telemarketers. I used to press 1 just to scream and cuss at them and see how long before they hang up. Now I just don't answer and block them.
Call came in at 4:34 pm - CID - NEW YORK NY - took phone off hook until it disconnected. Some of these calls have a robo message that will automatically start when you pick up - those I just hang up on - but some have voice-activated messages so I never say "Hello" - I just wait to see which type this one is and if there is silence when I pick up - I just leave the phone off the hook until the call disconnects.
Hope you don't know anyone in Queens, Bronx or maybe Staten Island, NY, either, since 718 area code covers those boroughs of NYC, as well. Plus, those with 718 area code on their cell phones might be calling from anywhere in the U.S.
