Live call (718) 362-6024 14 December 2013 ("Go Green, Free Solar Panels..." SCAMMER)
Caller ID: New York NY
Also calls from: [first time caller]
This was this scammer's first call to me. A man with a heavy India accent called and asked to speak with the "homeowner". Claimed to be from Go Green Solar energy company and offered solar panels at no cost. Unfortunately, his accent was so thick, I could hardly understand much of what he was saying.
He asked if I owned or rented and even read off my correct address, but I knew he was calling from overseas when he had great difficulty pronouncing the name of my street, which is a common garden plant, a very common English word which should not have given him any trouble to pronounce.
I try to record spam calls using Google Voice ( www.google.com/voice ) but this call was not made to my Google number. You can hear other recorded conversations on my Spam Calls web page:
Being on the list doesnt stop people from calling you. It simply provides an avenue for the govt to fine a company if they call people that are on the list. But you have to report violations on your own. If you dont, then being on the list is only as good as the people who honor it. Most scammers know that people very rarely report calls if they are on the list, so they take the chance of getting fined to try and get a sucker. Reputable companies will honor it and it usually a mistake if they call you while you are on the list.
Got call from 718-362-6024 from 'Daniel' of 'Go Green Solar.' Strong Indian accent. He asked for the homeowner. I asked him if he was a criminal scammer and he hung up. Obvious scammer.
