Came through cid as Lower rate,,, BUT, I have been receiving harrassing calls from Portfolio Recovery / Capital One for a 10 year + write off and have suddenly received several unsolicited calls like this... which I understand fit their MO..
Identity theft attempt, magically from the same named individual that I got a call from around 2 months ago. Heather wanting to talk about my credit card. *rolls eyes*
Caller ID read "TEACHER'S PHONE" and this number. 718-439-6785. Automated message using broad/ambiguous language. "Important message regarding your credit card account" ... "Lower interest to as little as 6.9%" ... "But hurry, this offer expires soon" ... "Press one to speak with a representative or two to stop receiving these important notifications". This is most likely a scam. I pressed 2...
Remember not to ever give out personal information over the phone. And never assume that the caller is really who they say they are. Anyone can have an "important message regarding your credit card account," but of course in the end they will need you to verify your full account number, routine number, address, etc. Then they have everything they need to carry out business as you and ruin your financial health.
I just received call from 718-439-6785 with the same recorded message others have reported here, about lowering interest rate on credit card. I have no credit cards, do not know where they got this number. It's the first time I've had such junk on my mobile number--- dammit!
Same number has been hounding me for three years on my home phone and my cell phone. Opting out doesn't work with them. If you talk to them, your calls from many scammers will skyrocket. They aren't from your credit card company and they don't know what cards you have or the numbers. I'm on do not call lists. They don't care about that law. I'm sure they break other laws, including theft.
