And their calling me at 8am, isn't it the law they have to wait until 9am?

This bunch began calling me yesterday and I answered, not knowing who it was. The guy said he WAS the Dept of Education, calling to collect on my defaulted student loan. FYI: I got the loan in '89, complete with a credit life/disability ins. pkg. I became disabled in '94. But the strangest thing is: I never heard a word from anybody from 8/89 until 11/2/2000..over ELEVEN years. My ins. had "disappeared" - the loan had gone from USAgroup, to Sallie Mae, and then to the DOE and their many collection agencies. My physician's form, that has been properly completed according to the DOE,has seen been turned down, simply because my mental health nurse practitioner signed it. They say it has to be a doctor's signature. I've NEVER seen the doctor; I go to a satellite office 75 miles away from him. No matter how much medical proof you give these DOE collection agencies, it's not enough. The guy yesterday (1/22)even called the DOE a liar about the Dr. form, after I told him who I talked to @ DOE and when the DOE approved the nurse practitioner's name! The statute of limitations has long since passed - 11 years before the first contact and 7+ years since Nov. of 2000. But I've been told repeatedly over the last 7 yrs that since they're "the government" that they don't have to go by the law. Btw, these 3 groups have 2 complete records copies from 2 mental health places and 13 copies of my SS card and numerous Soc Sec forms showing I'm disabled and can't pay, but they claim I'm lying about my SSN and that I'm not disabled at all and "WILL PAY" or they'll take my entire check!  If I'm NOT disabled, how can they take my disability check?!

Dear Deb ~ PLEEZ let me hear from you so we can compare HORROR STORIES. In my case, they admit they're violating the seven year statute of limitations laws (nevermind the ELEVEN years I never heard from them in the first place! - from 1989 to 11/2000)but claim they don't have to abide by any of the laws if they don't want to since they're "the government". I even had credit life/disability insurance on this loan but "the government" said they decided to disregard it, just [email protected]
