Caller ID identified this caller only as "New York". I didn't answer. An automated message was left stating "This is IRS" (not "This is the IRS" - bad English). It told me they were filing a law suit against me, and to call them immediately at 202-738-1919. It was also weird because of the way they said the number to call. They said "202738.1919" (202738 point 1919), like they were unfamiliar with American phone numbers.
Not from Microsoft; East Indian accent and very easy to string along. Did not realize that stating "I am from Windows Help/Recovery Etcetera Etcetera Fake Department" would cause me to mock him mercilessly. Anyone with a memory spanning further than the time it takes to pour a glass of water should know that they did not request assistance from Microsoft, or any of their affiliates. If employees of Microsoft have your telephone number, it is because you have first given it to them.
I can't emphasize this enough: IF YOU HAVE FIFTEEN FREE MINUTES, SPEND THEM INFURIATING A FOREIGN SCAMMER. IN THAT TIME, YOU MAY SAVE A FOOL FROM BEING PREYED UPON. It doesn't hurt to laugh at their impotent rage, either. *wink-wink*
This mob have called over the last few weeks! Their English is so bad I can't understand 97% of what they say.
They have wrung my land line and mobile! which is handy because the mobile records their number.
Here's a List:
1 607 739 9798
1 845 928 2408
1 516 785 9420
1 607 397 8255
1 718 745 5293
1 630 529 1659
Then there were the calls on the land line.
I kept stopping the calls to my mobile after a while so I got messages:
Here's a sample: the name Mr Anna is not my name it was the name they used.
"Hello Mr Anna. Please received the call it's very urgent. Either I have to block your computer because it's a security warning"
I am in the land of "Kangaroos, Meat Pies and Holden Cars" - so if the authorities in the land of Uncle Sam can control your fraudulent activists the rest of us on the planet might be able to enjoy our SATURDAY evening. This is A.B. (also not my name)
Me too about once a month. Same caller called my cottage in Haliburton too so I played him (I have no computer at the cottage) after he gave me instructions I faked that my computer wasn't working anymore then he proceeded to demand that I give him my credit card number. I then told him to go F himself I have no computer where he's calling. Today same call same number. This time I told him he just called the IT department for CSIS and I was tracking his number. He hung up awfully fast. What has me confused is that if the same number keeps coming up why hasn't the RCMP, OPP or CSIS let alone the FBI or CIA, been able to track these guys for all we know it could be a terrorist organization bilking money out of people who don't know better (hence the middle eastern accent)to fund their dastardly deeds.
This was the message received on 10/28/2014, i got the same message last week but from a different number. its a scam
"Hello we have been trying to reach you. This call is officially a final notice from IRS Internal Revenue Service is the reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing a lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call us immediately on our department number 202-864-1675. I repeat the number 202-864-1675. Thank you."
Received a call from this number and says it is from IRS about a case and leaves a number to call back. Looks like it is a scam number as per the other folks who have left a message.
