I just got a call and experienced the same thing. The lady starts off with saying my first name and then says " it's harder to get a hold of you then asking my children to clean their room." I really do not think this comment was necessary. While I can appreciate giving to this cause, and I do, there are times when I can not financially do so. I expressed this and she just went on and I had to politely say good bye. I refuse to give any credit card information over the phone and each year I decide what charities I can donate to and so online.
Got the same type of story from a very pleasant female saying she was going to send me something in the mail, blah blah blah. I told her she was lucky I even answered the phone not knowing the #, and told her callers are scammers /telemarketers and she said she was sorry and I hung up. Odd thing the # had 12 digits with two 1's up front and said invalid number?
A REAL SCAM-no money goes to patients. Different number, different day-same scam. I'm sure they'll callback-they have been blocked for quite sometime. Criminals.
