A female (no unusual accent) introduced her name (I have forgotten it) and the company (something about Fraud somethingrather) and immediately asked for my name. I was confused why she would need my name. She sounded very sure of herself, and like she simply needed it for confirmation...however, when you call my cell number and right away call me sir...I know that you do not really know who I am... I hesitated giving my name because I didn't understand why she could possibly need it for beneficial reasons. She ended with "that's ok, thank you." when I said that I wasn't willing to give my name. Definitely knew then that it couldn't have been that important! Odd, though, that it was a different company name and tactics, but definitely same number as the many pages of complaints against this number
Just got a call from #740 368 0299 on my cell phone. Never had an account for Citi?????, so there out there fishing. Clad the FBI is aware, per n/a comments.
The first time they called, they said they were trying to authorize a charge on my card. I called them back and they wanted my logon id. A few days later they called and said they had suspended my credit card because of a wrong social security card. I called Citi and they said that they do not have any record of these calls and my card has not been suspended. It is some sort of a scam.
Got one on my cell too late. The voicecall picked up before I could get to it. No message was left. I called back, it rang eight times before I hung up. I did a reverse Google lookup and this page was my first result.
I would check with the FTC and the Better Business Bureau.
I got a call today from "citi bank student loan division" asking me to confirm my permanet address... The guy knows where I live now and wanted to know my address in Maine....Does anyone know what happens if you do give them your address ?
