They called and wanted to talk to my mother who is in a nursing home. They actually wanted to make arrangements when they could talk with her at the nursing home! I told them my mom has dementia and can't talk on the phone. Then they wanted me to send them POA papers to them, but refused to say what this was about. I told them I wouldn't send them legal papers without knowing what this was about. Told them to send me a letter, but they refused to. They were quite rude. For all I know they could be scammers or identity thieves!
Are they really lawyers?? - and it is illegal to claim that if they are not!!
Phone calls & emails are NOT considered official notification of anything. Demand proof of the "problem" in writing that is mailed to you. They will probably make all kinds of excuses--then YOU hang up.
Report them to your state attorney general's office.
