My 85 year-old mother received a voicemail from "Mark Smith" with the IRS (917-267-8575) who had a heavy Indian accent threatening her with arrest because of tax fraud. I told her it was a scam. She is still terribly upset and plans to contact her CPA, in case this is real.
Steven Smith called me today, went straight to voicemail with no missed call on my end. Left a message saying I was going to be arrested if I didn't call back to address a lawsuit filed against me. He said he had my social and address on file. It was very threatening and he tried to make it sound like going to NY local police would make matters worse. I called back from a blocked number and after two rings, voicemail picked up. It was indescript and vague but I did not leave a message. I almost wish he would call back so we could have a proper conversation
I have received a call saying this is Officer Dean Marshall with the Law & Enforcement Agency and that an investigation is being persued with my social security number and that if he does not hear back from me that I will have a hard life - that my credit cards, debit cards and banking account will be seized by the government. Tells me to call 917-267-8575 to resolve the matter. I feel that this is a scam and they are just trying to scare me into doing something that I don't know about.
I was called by +2122233333 and was told that I have a government grant waiting for me and was instructed to take down the 917 number and an ID #. So I called the 917 # and the woman answered saying that all I have to do is western union $250 dollars and the money will be sent to my account. I said I do not trust it and hung up. Guess they're taking another route. I am going to report their [***].
