My check was the same, $2480. This is a scam... look at the check, no watermarks. They will have you money gram them before you know the check is a phony. Nobody sends you that kind of money out of the blue!!
I WAS TOLD THIS NUMBER IS FROM A JAMES GARETT A REAL ESTATE AGENT THAT POSTED A JOB FOR A PERSONAL ASSISTANT FOR HIM. HE MAILED ME A CHECK FOR $2700 TO PAY ME AND TO HAVE ME PAY HIS BILLS BUT THAT HE WOULD LIKE ME TO MONEY GRAM THE MONEY TO HIS CLIENTS. I THOUGHT THAT THIS SOUNDED UNUSUAL AND THREW UP RED FLAGS. I ASKED FOR HIM TO VERIFY WHO HE WAS AND HE CALLED ME STUPID AND STARTED CUSSING AT ME. NO MAN WHO CLAIMS TO BE A HIGH END REAL ESTATE AGENT WOULD SPEAK LIKE THAT! HE WANTED ME TO MONEY GRAM THE MONEY TO LONDON? IF ANYONE ELSE HAS GONE THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THIS PLEASE COMMENT! THANK YOU!
Thank you. Today I received an official looking check for $2,480. It was a cashier's check from Fifth Third Bank. The letter dated 03/02/2012 instructed me to call this number for advice on what to do. Kelsey Petrey was acting for Mr. Fred Minnick who is on vacation. I do not know either person nor do I want to participate in their scam.

I also was scammed by this person but he went by Anthony Archie. He also sent me a check for 2480.00 and I was feeling a little weird about it seeming like it was too good to be true and started doing some research before the check cleared. I called my bank and informed them and they pulled the check and put a hard hold on it so they could find out if it was a fake. They said that most people dont have a clue and alot of times it takes up to 3 weeks before the bank descovers its a check and you are held responsible for it.. The bank also told me that they knew of several other people who were scammed the same way but they did not catch it in time. I started to look into some of the things he told me an look back through my emails and realized I had not applied for the job on Career builder although he went along with me and agreed thant I had. When I confronted him and told him I knew it was a scam and asked him what name ha preferred and called him by all the names associated with his number he started to cuss at me and call me stupid, so I told him I had reported him and filed a police report and hung up. Hopefully they will catch him his phone number is a landline so they were confident they could, but for now he is scamming other people who have no idea who he is. Please report him so we can stop him from hurting others.
