i got a call from this number. i knew it was some dude was trying to sell me something. i yelled at him and told him that i'll report them, he said that they got my number from thier data base,. so i asked him who they wanna talk to, he didn't give me my name. but he kept saying something about data base. i think our phone company is selling our numbers, or these guys just punching in an A number. anyway. i stopped getting calls from this number after me being mean with them. by the way, the guy that was talking to me sounded like from india or some asian country. i could not understand what he was saying.
i got this from channel 4 news on computer.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A not-for-profit that teaches children fire safety and the danger of playing with or setting fires says a scam is taking advantage of their good name.
The J-FIRE program of WNY says a phone scam using their name has been making the rounds in WNY. A caller will ask for donations and seek information from victims. J-FIRE says it does not request donations through random calling and has not authorized anyone to act on their behalf.
The phone number associated with the scam is (971) 220-1753. J-FIRE says it tried to file a police report, but as the potential victim that alerted the organization to the scam didn't actually fall for it, no crime was committed.
Nonetheless, J-FIRE is alerting WNY to the scam so others don't fall prey. You can learn more about the program here.
Yeah, I just got a call from 971-220-1753 about 10 minutes ago...but I didn't pick up because I was driving. No voicemail either. Thanks for the info guys!
I also got a call from this number.. online, so i typed in the number into google. heavy non-native english speaker accent. area code is from oregon.
I informed him that he was in violation of federal law (which i repeated over and over until he hung up on me) he was all like "i'm only trying to give you information. and i'm like "this sounds like a scam, no. you are in violation of federal law as this number is on the federal do not call list"
