Have gotten calls like this several times with this being the first one from this number... 971-220-1980. The ID box had REWARD SOLUTION and they left the message about lowering my interest rate on my credit card. I'm no dummy!!! I don't answer calls from people I don't know personally. This is nothing but a BIG FAT SCAM!
The usual line about reducing Interest Rates. I have probably received more than 10 calls from these people in the last 6 months.
This last time I hit a '1' instead of hanging up. When a man answered I started my speech.
To whom am I speaking? He gave me a name.
Are you aware sir that you are in direct violation of the "Do Not Call" directive and as such may be subject to a fine or imprisonment or both? There was a long pause and then he hung up on me.
Received an ILLEGAL pre-recorded call today: Caller ID Display: REWARD SOLUTION 971-220-1980

"Press 1 to lower your interest rate"
Connected with a live operator "Deena" and played along answering non-personal information questions such as:
1. Do you have more than $3000 in credit card debt?
2. How many accounts?
3. Are you current on at least one account?
4. What's the name of that account?
5. What the interest rate on that account?
6. What's your payment amount?
The operator "Deena" said her job was to "qualify" me to see if I was eligible for a lower rate and that the Finance person would be able to explain the details.
7. What's the 800 number on the back of your VISA card so we can call and confirm your eligibility?
At that point I politely declined, saying that I didn't know who she was, or the company, so I was reluctant to provide personal information. "Deena" then claimed:
--The company name is "Card Member Services"
--They issue the billing statements for ALL the credit card issuers
--I'm protected from loss by the "CPA, Consumer Protection Act"
--They are calling from Washington State but have offices "all over".
I asked how does it work? Do I transfer my balances to their company? She replied that they would work with the card companies to lower my interest rate.So you're a Debt Relief company I asked?
Well, No..my job is to just qualify you...the finance "counselor" will explain the details.
I said, let me ask you a question: How do you sleep at night knowing that your giving false information to people on the phone? She seemed offended, and off guard She informed me that she wasn't lying and that she had a two year old. I inquired, then you wouldn't mind telling me the name of the company that appears on your paycheck?
She replied, "Card Services" and then hung up. Classic!
I organized a web site and Facebook page to help stop these calls: stoptomwithhomeprotection.wordpress.com
Today I answered this telemarketer as I was tired of getting these calls. The party that connected gave me the usual calling to reduce my credit card interest rates. When I asked her which cards she hung up.
This is a SCAM to get your credit card infornation, she gave me the information that they represented VisaMaster card. I had an experience with this same name on line last week and it was a SCAM. They used the information to attempt to make thousands of dollars in charges on my Chase Bank card. Chase called me to report attempted fraudunlent use. I put a fraud alert on the credit bureaus and purchased protection ID Protection.
